St. Joseph pulls away to beat Harding

TRUMBULL -- Ever since the Boston Celtics captured the 2008 NBA rubric behind the trio of Kevin Garnett , Ray Allen and Paul Pierce , the term " Big Three " has risen back to fame in the basketball world.

As the high school boys basketball regular salt hits its stretch run, it appears St. Joseph has emerged with its own "Big Three," both literally and figuratively.

The Cadets' three of Greg Langston, Oscar Assie and Timajh Parker all stand 6-foot-3 or taller, with games to compete with.

And Tuesday night against Harding, St. Joseph rode its "Big Three" -- along with some important patronize-half defense -- to an 82-61 victory, propelling the streaking Cadets into lieutenant place in the FCIAC.

"We had three guys that had exceptional games as far as scoring, rebounding and confuse games," St. Joseph coach Vito Montelli said. "We've got an advantage on a lot of teams down low. Between Oscar, Timajh and Greg, those guys can all take their man down low and give someone a taste."
